Villa Park Receives Grant for Improvements to Twin Lakes Park

The Village of Villa Park is proud to announce that long anticipated improvements to Twin Lakes Park will now be a reality due to the award of an Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Open Space Land Acquisition and Development, (OSLAD), grant in the amount of $249,700. Villa Park is one of 101 local outdoor recreation projects selected representing $32.9 million in funding.

Twin Lakes Park is a 15.8 acre neighborhood park located north of North Ave. and is the largest park owned by the Village. The park contains a soccer and baseball field, two ponds, a multi-play area and playground equipment. This development occurred in the mid 1980’s and since then no improvements, other than regular maintenance and the replacement of the play equipment, have been completed.

Planned improvements include; expanding the north parking lot by 33 spaces, constructing an 800 square foot pavilion with permanent restrooms and a picnic shelter, installing accessible fishing piers on each pond, relocating the existing play equipment and adding play apparatus for ages 3-5, installing 800 feet of asphalt pathway from the parking lot to the pavilion, ponds and play equipment and landscaping. Work should commence in the spring of 2007 and conclude by late summer of 2008.
