Lifeguard

The lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all swim pool patrons at Jefferson and Lufkin Pools. The pools need to be staffed every day of the week (Memorial Day-Labor Day) at varying times from 6:00 am-9:30 pm. All lifeguards must have American Red Cross certification or the ability to obtain in order to be considered.

Minimum Age 15.

TITLE: PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER 1
HORTICULTURAL SPECIALIST

DEPARTMENT: PARKS
CLOSING DATE: MAY 30, 2008
STARTING WAGE: $20.31/HOUR ($42,244.80 Annually)

DUTIES:

This position is responsible for organizing and overseeing typical duties related to grounds maintenance and grounds improvement. Frequently will be a leader to seasonal employees. Duties will also include varied duties in the Building Maintenance Division.

REQUIREMENTS:

APPLICANT TO HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

Must have an Associates Degree or higher in Horticulture, Park Maintenance or related field.
Must be able to secure an Illinois Public Applicators Pesticide License (turf, ornamental and right-of-way) within one (1) year of hire
Must have a valid Illinois Driver's License and be able to secure a Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within sixty (60) days of hire.
Must cooperate fully with emergency call-out and scheduled overtime.
Must be able to perform heavy manual tasks (a thorough pre-employment physical examination will be required after conditional job offer).
Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Design, plant and maintain flowerbeds and landscape plantings.
Select planting material and sources
Develop and perform an integrated pest management program for turf and landscape areas.
Review architectural plans and designs for landscaping and make recommendations for changes.
Operate the Village's trucks, tractors and grounds equipment.
Must be available for snow removal operations.
