2008 Adult Summer Softball Leagues

Dog Obedience

The basic/beginner class for dogs six months of age or older, this class will teach dogs how to heel, sit, stay, sit-stay, down, down-stay, recall and finish. All training will be done on the lead. The advanced class requires successful completion of the basic class and will concentrate on the previously mentioned commands, but off-lead. In addition, the dog will learn to sit in motion, down in motion, stand in motion and long distance recall. All dogs must have a band collar and properly fitting chain collar. Please bring clean-up materials to class.

Puppy Kindergarten

We love wine...and we love cheese, but what wines to pair with which cheeses is something we often wonder about. So come join us as we introduce you to some delicious wine and cheese pairings, and give you ideas that you will be able to take home and share with friends and family.

Wine for Dummies

If you’ve ever walked into a large wine and liquor store and felt like you were swimming in a sea of unknown...then come join us for this “no snobs allowed” look at wine. You will learn how to identify basic grape varietals, as well as taste some wine each night! We will also answer questions such as how full to fill a wine glass; what wines to chill; and just what is a tannin by the way? Come join us and have FUN learning a bit about wine!

Wines and BBQ’s

Time to fire up the grill and make those delicious recipes you’ve been waiting to try. But what about the wine? Is red wine acceptable with burgers, what goes best with grilled vegetables or salmon, and is there a wine that goes with melon ball salad? Join us and we will give you wonderful wine pairings for your favorite grill recipes, along with a delicious sampling of six of our favorite BBQ wines and dip combinations.

Appreciating Our Native Raptors: Owls, Hawks, and Eagles

Willowbrook Park

The wildlife rehabilitators at Northern Illinois Raptor Rehab and Education Project will tell us about the lives of our native birds of prey and their importance. And they will bring some of their beautiful birds to show us. Call 630.834.8970 to let us know you’re coming.

Sail Fitness Sailing Lessons

Learn to sail and get a great workout at the same time. You’ll discover what it takes to sail a 30’ sailboat in a friendly and fun atmosphere. All lessons are hands on and you’ll sail the first day of class. Classes set sail from Monroe Harbor in downtown Chicago and meet for three separate days, three hours each. You’ll create your own schedule according to the days and times below. Customized scheduling is available for groups of four or more.

Mud Volleyball Tournament

Adult Tennis

In the event of inclement weather, the instructor will advise you of a cancellation. Make ups will be scheduled the week of August 4th. Please bring your own racquet, however a limited number of racquets are available for use.

Beginning

If you have never played tennis before, have not played recently or want to improve your skills, then this is the program for you. All strokes including forehand, backhand, overhead serves and volleys will be covered.

Fencing

En Garde! Fencing is excellent exercise and ideal for all ages. This class offers a basic understanding of attack and defense along with conditioning, instruction and actual bout time. Please wear comfortable clothing and athletic shoes. All equipment is provided. Classes are offered in cooperation with the Lombard Park District.
